Dangerous Pass and Red Light Runner

I was riding in the correct lane to go through the lights when this car driver decided to try and squeeze past. I am reluctant to take the lane' here as I have seen people rammed from behind, but maybe its the only way to stop dangerous passing?' I ahd also considered going straight through form the left turning lane, but thought this was the best option. I did check behind and saw I had plenty of space to get across.
